‘Strait is the Gate' is inspired by Ingmar Bergman’s religious films. Circulating between the female character’s confession and her inner world, the shots describe struggles that the woman faces about her unfilled ideals. Here male power permeates and controls just as it does in reality, leaving the woman a victim of this suffocating dominance.
